Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street
It had been sometime since I gained the enthusiasm of reading books and I was having a couple of books in hand and some of them pending to be read as I had already ordered to keep a backup of my book love memories. I loved to read real stories and stories about people who had really achieved something in life and loved when some books were in demand which depicted real stories. One day Bill Gates published his list of recommended books for the year that he liked. One of them was a book that Warren Buffett gifted him during their first meeting in 1991.
It was “Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street” by John Brooks which was originally published in 1969 and went out of print in 1970. One of the masterpiece books which told about the twelve classic stories of the wall street and greatest of the business adventures.
Bill Gates was so enthusiastic about this book as it was given to him by his long time friend Warren Buffett during their first meeting in 1991. He also quoted as the best business books he has ever read. Unfortunately John Brooks died in 1993 but their family kindly agreed to provide one chapter as free ebook. “Xerox Xerox Xerox Xerox,” which originally appeared in the April 1, 1967 issue of The New Yorker, demonstrates all the strengths that made Brooks such a special writer: his intellect, his ability to see the big picture, and his sense of humor. Bill Gates wrote about it on his blog post also posted the free chapter of the Xerox Xerox Xerox Xerox. I hope you’ll check it out.
As this book was written in the 1970, it makes me more inclined about the time I wasn`t able to live or know about. I was so moved by this book and review of Bill Gates that finally I ordered the book today and I hope to get it delivered to me soon and I too read about the biggest adventures that happened in the business work. I too hope to startup and become one of the biggest and most influential businessmen in the world. 🙂
