Fast and Furious 7 – Paul Walker

I was a fan of the Fast series and had watched all previous movies before. I was disheartened to get the news of the death of Paul Walker in a car crash. How better would a person rest in peace while doing the thing he loved the most till his last breath, driving fast cars. I came to Munich few weeks earlier and was very excited to see this movie release around the time I reached and I planned that I would watch this movie in Munich itself. There was one theatre nearby in Isator however it was German theatre.

I inquired from one of my Indian colleagues who was working there regarding movie theatres in English and he told me there is only one in Nymphenburger Straße, however for that I had to change from S-Bahn to U-Bahn. I had shifted to Hauptbahnhof till that time so for me I had to catch only U-Bahn. I had the Schnellbahn map with me so I was not worried in a new city, transportation in Munich is so detailed and perfect, I can never even imagine I can get lost in a city like Munich.

I tried to book the tickets online through my international credit card, the transaction was not successful, I tried 2nd time, it was still not successful. Thinking now I`m in a different country with limited cash availability I should not try transaction 3rd time to block my credit card. Then I started booking through my travel card once, twice and thrice…..boom transaction was successful however ticket was not booked. I got bit nervous and called the Cinema theatre regarding my booking, they told you can directly come and book tickets at the counter itself, also gave me a hint that movie would be taken off on Wednesday, which is unlikely possible in India. Then I waited for Wednesday to come and after office, I followed the map and started walking after getting off from the train station.

At first I thought why is the theatre not visible or did I miss it, coz my Indian experience thought that Cinema theatres are situated in big multiplexes with high rise banners, but I kept on walking for around 20-25mins and then I saw the theatre which did not have any escalators or staircase, it was situation on the ground floor itself. I walked in and asked for a ticket, the receptionist told you can buy any ticket and sit anywhere as it is the last show and there are not many people to watch this movie. I took popcorn and cola and booked the cheapest ticket and went at the last seat to see the movie like a king :).

After the movie was over, I came out of the theatre and started walking towards the train station for 20-30mins until I realized it`s almost 12am and I have lost the way. I did not stop, I had little water with me and the cold wind was hitting me and I continued to walk here and there back and forth changing the streets where I tried to find my way back. Fortunately after walking here and there, I found 2 girls on a cycle and before they could leave, I walked towards them and asked if they speak English and asked if they had Internet in their phones coz I didn’t had it. To my luck, they told me the train station is nearby I can walk 50m and get to the train station.

I got to the station and then waited for the train to come, as after 0000hrs, the trains come after 30mins. I waited for the train, feeling bit terrified at a station alone in the very early hours of the day. Finally the U-Bahn arrived and I went to Hauptbahnhof and finally at 0130hrs I reached my room after watching the movie 🙂
